2020 Lemcke Bowl Finals

We finally got to have our 2020 Lemcke Bowl pointspiel finals … six months late. Normally this happens in March, but because the global pandemic shut everything down (including curling) our pointspiel finals were left in limbo.

Before we started our official fall season, we had a few one-off curling nights planned to run though our COVID-19 curling guidelines, including what it’s like curling in masks (not great, but better than not curling at all). So we decided to use them to finish off our truncated winter season.

On September 4 the early draw semifinals had Amy Smith, Sandy Mealey, Tyler Holloway and Dan McGurk playing Jamie Constantino, Chris Robbins and Bob Gorham. The late draw semifinals were Bill Hurley, Jim Chaplin, LeRoy Woodman and Brett DeSimone vs Thomas McIvor, Scott Fernandes, Dee Chaplin and Mary Beth Cordeiro. Tyler and Jim’s teams came out on top to play in the finals.

The finals was a good game, but Team Chaplin scored a 6-ender to put Team McGurk in a hole that was tough to dig out of. Congratulations to everyone who played in the finals, to Team Chaplin on their win, and to the entire South Shore club for their help and cooperation curling under these conditions. Good curling!
