South Shore Curling Club

The South Shore Curling Club is an arena curling club based in Bridgewater, MA. Our members come from all around southeastern Massachusetts.

We spent some time at the club today doing some much needed equipment maintenance. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out. Shout out to Ken and Thanh for bringing crockpot chili. All 40 club brooms have been recovered, new stabilizers built, stone box A has a shiny new cover and the closet has been organized. The season doesn't start for a couple of months, but we're ready. ... Grab your team, mark your calendar and get ready to register for the 10th annual BOO hosted by our friends at Broomstones! It's a great local spiel where a lot curlers have a ton of fun.Hello Curlers! The BOO committee has been hard at work in preparing for our 10th Anniversary Bonspiel for this upcoming season, and we hope many of you will be able to join. We have implemented a few changes for the anniversary celebrations and wanted to share them with you all in this message. Due to the popularity of the spiel, we are expanding from 28 to 32 teams. As a result, we need to start on Thurs night (10/8) instead of on Friday morning to incorporate the draw schedule. The first 4 draw times will be: Thurs 6pm and 8:30pm and Friday 8am and 10:15am. Teams registering for the spiel will be asked to pick their top two times and we will do our best to accommodate these requests. We will provide first draw assignments in late July/early August to allow for travel arrangements. Registration will open on Friday, July 10th EST at noon and close on Monday, July 13th at 6pm EST. A team may have only one member listed as TBD. We anticipate having more applicants than available slots. As a result, we will host an online lottery for those slots on Thurs July 17th at 7pm. We think this is the fairest option available. The 32 slots will be broken down as follows: 1 slot reserved for the returning champion - Alex Leichter’s team 1 slot reserved the winner of last year's murder mystery competition - Kim Jennett’s team 1 slot requested by Broomstones Governing Board for a specific away-team 6 slots for Broomstones teams (3 of 4 must be registered as full-time Broomstones members to qualify) 23 slots for out-of-town teams There are three extra provisions related to the lottery As many teams can apply from each club but, we will limit the number of out-of-town teams drawn during the lottery to 2 per club. A team’s club is defined by the majority of players on the team OR by the skip’s club if they are evenly split between two clubs. We expected only 1 team to complete the murder mystery competition, but we had 8 teams and had to randomly draw the winner. We announced at the time of the draw that we would give those other teams an additional chance to return to the 10th anniversary event. These teams will receive an additional ballot during the lottery in whichever bucket (Broomstones or out-of-town) they register. However, to qualify for this extra ballot, 3 of the 4 members must be from the original 2025 team. We will also be hosting another surprise event in the spiel where you will have the opportunity to gain a coveted spot for the 2027 spiel. More details to come. We know that teams on the waitlist were disappointed that they could not participate in the event. The committee debated this and eventually decided to grant an extra ballot to those teams on the 2025 waitlist. Like above, 3 of the 4 members must be from the original 2025 team. Once the lottery is completed, we will send a link to pay the registration fee $540 and begin working on the draw schedule. Teams must pay within 2 weeks or they will forfeit their spot. We will share additional details about the spiel in the upcoming weeks, but we wanted to provide some relevant information related to the registration process and logistics of the spiel. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. ... See MoreSee Less

None of the contestants knew the answer. Sad. Just sad. Curlers everywhere were definitely yelling at the TV. ... See MoreSee Less

Mudspiel update... both teams had a great time this weekend. Thanks to Plymouth State Ice Arena and Dave and his crew for hosting all of us. Both teams played their last games at 4:30 yesterday and narrowly avoided playing each other at 8:30 this morning. They enjoyed sleeping in. They look forward to going back next year. ...
